SSN: How did you discover Supernatural?
Joan: I saw the previews for Supernatural for a while before it started and I knew that it was right up my alley. I couldn’t wait for it to start! I have been watching from the very beginning.
SSN: What is your favorite Supernatural episode and why?
Joan: My favorite Supernatural episode is and will always be the Pilot episode. There are so many to choose from, but that episode sets the stage for an incredible journey. I loved the relationship between Sam and Dean from that first episode. It has always been a love/hate relationship between them, but when it comes right down to it, they would, will and have died for each other. Also, let’s not forget about the music. The moment AC/DC’s “Back in Black” started playing, I was hooked. I love classic rock and this series has delivered from that first episode.
SSN: What is your least favorite Supernatural episode and why?
Joan: I don’t really have a least favorite Supernatural episode. They are all great, but if I had to choose one, I guess I would have to say “The Benders” is my least favorite. The only reason is that I didn’t like the subject matter. I completely agree with Dean when he said, “Demons I get, people are crazy.” It was a very disturbing episode. Good, but disturbing.
SSN: Who is your favorite villain?
Joan: I think my favorite villain would have to be Zachariah. Kurt Fuller played him perfectly. He was such an evil spirited angel. There were times that I would just cringe listening to his voice because he was so sleazy. I love to hate him.
SSN: How do you promote Supernatural?
Joan: Besides talking about the show to anyone who will listen, on January 9th of this year, I guest hosted a one hour radio show on 96.5 WKLH in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The radio station has a classic rock format and as I’ve said, I love classic rock. I could choose my own music, so I did an homage to Supernatural. Every song that I chose was played on the show, except for “Ramble On”. As every hardcore fan knows, “Ramble On” and “Traveling Riverside Blues” are Dean’s two favorite songs. I love “Ramble On”, so even though it was never played on the show, I played it anyway. It was my show! I’m guest hosting another radio show in April, this one in Chicago. The station is 97.1” The Drive”. I will be playing songs from Supernatural again and spreading the word!
SSN: Do you prefer one of the boys over the other? If so, which one?
Joan: I don’t like to choose one over the other, because they are both incredible guys. I have met both of them several times at conventions and they are so genuine. The only difference is that Jensen is a little more reserved than Jared. Jared is just more “out there.” It’s a tough question, but sorry Jared, Jensen is more my type. Come on, those gorgeous eyes?? Please??
SSN: If you could be in ANY Supernatural episode, which would you choose and why?
Joan: I’m an actress and I’ve met quite a few of my goals, but one of my goals is to be on an episode of Supernatural. I don’t care if I’m a dead body, covered in blood and unrecognizable! If I had to choose a past episode, I would love to have played Madge from “A Very Supernatural Christmas” (a very close 2nd place for favorite episode). I love those “Kathy Bates” types of roles.
SSN: What one character would you love to see back on Supernatural?
Joan: I want John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) back, of course, but I miss Gabriel. I met Richard Speight, Jr. at the L.A. Convention in February and what a great guy! He wrote something very special on our photo op and it will always be cherished.
SSN: How do you want the show to end?
Joan: I don’t want the show to end, ever, but for the boys’ sanity, I know it will have to. I would have been okay with the way Eric Kripke would have ended the series in the Season five finale. Now, I’m not sure. That’s a really tough question.
SSN: What other TV shows do you watch religiously?
Joan: Mike & Molly, Hawaii Five-O, Dirty Jobs, Big Bang Theory, Inside the Actor’s Studio, How I Met Your Mother, America’s Most Wanted, Ghost Hunters.
SSN: Where can we find you on the Internet?
