SSN: How did you discover Supernatural?
Karen: I have watched from minute one. When the KTLA Morning News (local news station in L.A.) featured a preview of the first few moments of the pilot, it looked like a show I would be interested in. Very well-done pilot.
SSN: What is your favorite Supernatural episode and why?
Karen: I always come back to “Home.” That’s the one that made me a Dean-girl, I loved the history of the family it gave, there were great brother moments, it featured the return of John Winchester and I can watch it over and over and come away with something new.
SSN: What is your least favorite Supernatural episode and why?
Karen: Not a fan of “Red Sky at Morning.” I don’t like the way Dean got duped by Bella more than once, the scene with Sam and the old lady was creepy and not in a fun way. Just didn’t hit the right note in the scheme of the show.
SSN: Who is your favorite villain?
Karen: Azazel, a.k.a. Yellow Eyes, was the first very big bad we encountered, and with his history with the family and how he was a major player in the overall plans for the boys, all the way back to his encounter with young Mary Campbell, I gotta go with him. Plus Frederic Lehne rocked the part.
SSN: How do you promote Supernatural?
Karen: Besides talking about how great it is to anyone who will listen (and even those who don’t), I feature it on my television blog, tvtourguide.net, as one of my favorite shows and plan to write about it a lot this season. Plus I’m going to talk it up on the online radio segment I do every week when we get closer to the season premiere.
SSN: Do you prefer one of the boys over the other? If so, which one?
Karen: Love them both, but ultimately I’m a Dean-girl. Jensen Ackles is just so very brilliant in the role and brings Dean to life in a way that I forget the actor and just enjoy the character as a real entity, which means he’s doing his job. Jared, too. Perfect casting, excellent chemistry.
SSN:If you could be in ANY Supernatural episode, which would you choose and why?
Karen: That’s so hard! I guess my first thought goes to “Changing Channels” because I love television, I loved the comedy and I know Richard Speight, Jr., so it would be fun to work with him. Maybe a Trickster sidekick!
SSN: What one character would you love to see back on Supernatural?
Karen: Missouri Mosley. Loved her and Loretta Devine’s portrayal. And hey, they promised they wouldn’t be strangers!
SSN: How do you want the show to end?
Karen: Um, I don’t? But I know it has to. I would love to have the last shot be the boys at the trunk, seeing them via trunk-cam, like at the end of the Pilot, and Dean saying “We’ve got work to do.”
SSN: What other TV shows do you watch religiously?
Karen: Because I write about television, I have to watch so much. But I really love Hawaii Five-0, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and most of the CW shows. Revenge is great, too.
