Margaux de Merle

SSN: How did you discover Supernatural?

Margaux: Via the Internet. I was looking online for a new show to watch. As I’ve always been a fan of horror and science fiction shows and the description of the plot immediately caught my attention. And after reading a lot of positive recommendations about Supernatural I decided to give it a try. Back then season 1 had already been out for a while and season 2 was close to the finale. Well, I started to watch with the pilot… and was hooked immediately, I did marathon-watch season 1 and all the already aired episodes of season 2 until I had caught up. Since then I’ve watched every single episode on the day/week it’s been aired on TV! Sometimes I think I didn’t just discover Supernatural, Supernatural found me and changed (maybe even saved…) my life… There’s something special about this show and its fans – I’ve never experienced something like the Supernatural fandom before!

SSN: What is your favorite Supernatural episode and why?

Margaux: Now that is a difficult question. There are so many great episodes I’d call my favourite ones. Right now my favourite of all the favourite episodes is the season 9 finale. I love where the writers went with Dean, how with the mark of Cain they gave him an intriguing significant own myth-arc. I’m so excited that the writers had the courage to go that far by turning Dean into a demon at the end of the episode. And I’m really looking forward to how this will turn out in season 10.

SSN: What is your least favorite Supernatural episode and why?

Margaux: My least favourite episode is ‘Dog Dean Afternoon.’ It’s supposed to be a funny episode but to me the animal-voices were just over the top and cheesy! The handling of the story was really disappointing in some parts…I’d have loved if it has been more shamanistic/spiritual. The way Dean did communicate with the animals could have been handled better – missed some mythological depth. The episode just didn’t work for me – Supernatural  usually ‘aims higher’ even with the ‘just funny’ filler episodes.

SSN: Who is your favorite villain?

Margaux: Crowley! Do I have to explain…and Mark Sheppard is just brilliant in performing him!

SSN: How do you promote Supernatural?

Margaux: I’m really active on Twitter, trying to support the Supernatural related hashtags there. I’ve also participated in several fan-projects, like sending postcards or supporting online campaigns.

SSN: Do you prefer one of the brothers to the other? If so, which one?

Margaux: I wouldn’t say I prefer one of the brothers but I relate more to Dean – even if it’s just metaphorical but sometimes I see myself in Dean, and this helped me to fight my own inner battles.

SSN: If you could be in ANY Supernatural episode, which would you choose and why?

Margaux: Difficult decision…hmmm…maybe I’d like to be in ‘The Purge’ – to be more specific, I’d would’ve liked to be with the boys in the scene when they’re back at the bunker, after they had solved the case. I could barely watch Dean’s pain after he had the conversation with Sam – in this moment I wished I could’ve talked to him…he’s so trapped in his own broken mind, he needs to talk to someone who helps him to questioning what he’s continuing to do to himself…how destructive his (their) behaviour is…Damn, I’m no psychologist but if I could’ve been in this scene…to just moderate between him and Sam…to help…to be there for Dean just to talk or whatever…Well, instead of going intense and painful – is that even possible on Supernatural?

Another episode I’d like to be in would be ‘Jus in Bello’ – I love the dynamic and suspense of ‘random’ people trapped together in a small space where they’ve to defend themselves against an evil force.

SSN: What one character would you love to see back on Supernatural?

Margaux: I’d love to see so many back, even characters we’ve only seen in one episode but who were so fascinating that I want to see more of them. But for now I’ll just say that I want Kevin back. I didn’t like that they killed him and made him a ghost.

SSN: How do you want the show to end?

Margaux: I’d like to see some kind of ‘open end’ but including the closing of the overall storyline of the series. With such an end they could probably add a movie later. I always wanted to see Supernatural on the big screen, without the censoring that comes with being a TV show on a station like the CW.

SSN: What other TV shows do you watch religiously?

Margaux: Actually I’m not as enthusiastic about any other show as I am about Supernatural. Shows I like to watch are Sherlock, Sleepy Hollow, Dominion and a few others (casually). Would like to check out more shows but I just don’t have the time to watch.

SSN: Where can we find you on the Internet?

Margaux: You can find me as @margauxdemerle on Twitter and Margaux de Merle on Facebook. I’m also on tumblr… I won’t give you my URL there but I’m sure you’ll find me. ;D

I’ve to confess that it wasn’t actually easy to find answers without getting to personal/emotional. But it’s always difficult for me to explain what I love or like about a thing, yeah the old problem with expressing my feelings… LOL Like I said Supernatural is just more than a TV show to me.
